The GCTS 2011 season drew to a close when the Throwback/Retro Tourney got under way early Saturday morning with light winds and clearing skys, a far cry from what the weatherman had predicted. With anglers only allowed to use FINS Braid, Original Top Dogs, Kelley Wiggler Shrimp Tails and Russelures, it did not hinder their ability to bring in some nice stringers. The Team of McRae/Baker/Cabron (Jason, Kevin and Josh respectively) found the bite early using mainly Top Dogs to bring in a hefty sack of 19.23 lbs. including their 1.5lb bonus for all of their fish being alive. Using mostly Kelley Wigglers Shrimp Tails and Russelures, the Team of Jeremy Sorensen and Andy Holzworth came in a distant 2nd with a respectable 14.18 lb. sack (incleding the live bonus). Rounding out the top 3, and only .11 out of 2nd place, was Team Ron Hoover Marine (Capt. George Knighten, Capt. Greg Francis and Daniel "D-Pop" Popovich). Big Trout honors went to McRae/Baker/Cambron with a nice 6.18lb. fish. Big red honors fell upon the Team ofSorensen/Holzworth with hefty 7.85lb. fish.
